FAQ
What is the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®?
The Gyrotonic Expansion System is a unique, holistic approach to movement. A regular Gyrotonic practice can create a stronger, healthier, yet flexible (supple) spine and body with increased range of motion, greater joint stability, improved agility and athletic performance, and a deep internal strength.
I’m recovering from an injury. Will Gyrotonic training help?
Gyrotonic sessions are a great complement to a traditional physical therapy program and can make a significant contribution to the recovery process. Physical therapists use Gyrotonic exercises to help patients recover from injury and work with disabilities. Our focus on joint stability, muscle balance, and functional strength make Gyrotonic sessions an ideal post-rehabilitation exercise program.
I’m an athlete. Will Gyrotonic sessions improve my performance?
The Gyrotonic Expansion System was created by a professional athlete, Juliu Horvath, as a way to train and rehabilitate himself and other professional athletes. Whether a weekend warrior or competing at a professional level, athletes can experience profound improvements in performance such as improved cardiovascular endurance levels, improved respiratory levels, joint range of motion, as well as speed, agility, and overall functional strength and flexibility.
I don’t have much experience with exercise and I am not very coordinated. Can I take a Gyrotonic class?
The Gyrotonic Method is a great exercise choice for anyone who wants to safely and effectively recondition their body. Our 2 session introductory package at $180 is the best way to get started. Our skilled trainers will assess your body’s fitness level and range of motion and build an exercise program to meet your abilities and needs.
I am an expectant mother. Is the Gyrotonic Method good for prenatal exercise?
The Gyrotonic Method is a great exercise choice for prenatal care. You can enjoy a strong, flexible, and healthy body at every stage of your pregnancy. The exercises are gentle, safe, low impact, and cardiovascular. They are rejuvenating and energizing for both mother and baby.
More specifically, the exercises help to stay ahead of your body’s need to grow by creating space at the ribcage and pelvis while alleviating compression at the diaphragm and internal organs. They relieve upper body tension while simultaneously strengthening your arms in preparation to carry your newborn. Plus, the exercises create a strong and flexible pelvic floor while strengthening and toning your abdominal muscles, buttocks, hips, and thighs.
How often should I take a Gyrotonic class?
Students typically take 1 to 3 classes per week depending upon one’s schedule and budget.
What should I wear?
Please wear casual and comfortable clothing that is specifically designed for exercise or sport, allowing you to effortlessly and actively move your body during exercise.
